About Alanis Morissette
Canadian Alanis Nadine Morissette was born on June 1, 1974, in Ottawa, Ontario. A Greek name, Alanis is a version of her father Alan's name. Morissette was interested in music at an early age and began playing the piano when she was 6. Later, she starred on Nickelodeon's You Can't Do That on Television, and she signed a contract with MCA Canada at the age of 14. Alanis Morissette moved to Los Angeles after she graduated high school and began to search for contacts in the music world. Soon she met songwriter and producer Glen Ballard, who helped her to create her international debut album Jagged Little Pill. In 1995, Jagged Little Pill was released and sold over 30 million records.
